Beam Link Cam reaches real maturity — smartphone-as-webcam just won
iPhone Continuity Camera plus Beam Link drivers, vertical and horizontal alignment auto-detect, sub-2ms latency. The DSLR rig is dying.
The smartphone-as-webcam category quietly won the 2026 streaming camera war. Beam Link Cam shipped a 2.0 driver that reduces latency to sub-2ms, adds proper vertical-horizontal alignment detection, and ports the entire feature set to Android via Camera2 API.
The structural read: the average streamer is no longer in the market for a $1,200 mirrorless body and a capture card. A 2-year-old iPhone with Beam Link does the same job at higher resolution and better autofocus. The DSLR rig category is collapsing into the prosumer bracket only.
