Twitch vertical mobile goes live — the setup you actually need
Native 9:16 ingestion, dual-output overlays, and a real chat experience on portrait. The TikTok-Twitch convergence has its hardware moment.
Twitch shipped native vertical mobile streaming on March 30. The new ingestion path accepts pure 9:16 sources, the chat experience is finally portrait-native rather than letterboxed, and the discovery feed surfaces vertical streams in a separate carousel from the main directory.
What this means: a new build category. The vertical-only stream rig wants a tall ring light, a phone gimbal mount, and a compact mic that does not block the bottom third of the frame. Elgato, Shure and Razer all shipped products into this niche in the last 60 days.
